What is the Davis Children's Nutcracker?

The Davis Children's Nutcracker is theatre production involving 250 Davis children. The Davis Children's Nutcracker was started in 1977, for more information about the beginnings of the Nutcracker read the newspaper articles. History of the Nutcracker

The Davis Children's Nutcracker is based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The ballet's first production was on December 17, 1892 at the Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. The story of the Nutcracker.

2014 Davis Children's Nutcracker Applications

It's that time of year again! All Children ages six through twelve are invited to apply to participate in the Davis Children's Nutcracker. Parents must submit the application to Community Services at 600 A Street, Suite C.

Applications are due in our office by Friday September 26, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. The cast is limited to 250 children, with a certain number of parts allocated to each age group. Names are drawn by lottery, preference will be given to children who applied for last year's show and did not get in. Parents of children admitted to the cast will be notified and have until October 17, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. to complete program registration. The registration fee is $99. After initial registration is complete, we hold a second lottery to fill any remaining openings. Rolls are assigned after registration is complete. All cast members must be available for rehearsals and performance November 26 through December 16.

Applicants must be at least 6 years old by December 1, 2014.

Applications are available by download, in the Fall Recreation Schedule, or at the front counter of Community Services.

Nutcracker Volunteers Needed

It would be impossible to produce a show the size of "The Davis Children's Nutcracker" without help from many volunteers. Call or stop by the Community Services office to learn more about volunteer possibilities. Volunteer applications must be submitted by September 19, 2014.

Nutcracker Ticket Policy

Information about ticket sales for cast members will be mailed with confirmation packets.
Beginning December 10, 2014 tickets will be available to the general public, maximum six tickets per sale.
Tickets cost $15.00 for all performances.
Tickets can be purchased at the Community Services office, 600 A Street (just north across the parking lot from City Hall), during our normal office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
